JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Aquatic Manager supports the oversight and daily operation of aquatic facilities including Ideal Beach and Pierre Moran Pool. This position provides leadership in staff supervision facility operations admissions and concessions management safety enforcement and guest services while supporting program coordination and ensuring a safe welcoming and efficient aquatic environment. Employment is seasonal typically late May through September.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in supervising daily operations of aquatic facilities including staff coordination and program support.
Supervise schedule train and evaluate aquatics staff including lifeguards cashiers and support personnel.
Provide leadership during daily operations to ensure safety standards operational procedures and guest service expectations are met.
Interpret and enforce departmental policies safety regulations and facility rules.
Monitor admissions concessions and financial operations including compiling and balancing daily deposits.
Rotate lifeguards and staff assignments to maintain safety and operational efficiency.
Ensure facility cleanliness safety and readiness for public use.
Address guest inquiries concerns and feedback while promoting a positive experience.
Support programming coordination and special events.
Conduct staff trainings and in-service sessions.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinates food and beverage inventory levels and delivery with concessions manager
Assists with the planning and execution of events and programs.
Communicates with the Operations Manager about facility issues and concerns.
Ensures the facility is thoroughly cleaned on a regular basis.
Manages inventory of equipment and supplies.
All other duties as assigned by the Site Manager.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED. Some college preferred
Must have a valid drivers license.
Lifeguard training required. First Aid CPR and AED required. Lifeguard Instructor Preferred.
Management experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must possess a demonstrated level of ability and experience in areas of oral and written communications.
Ability to handle cash transactions accurately.
Customer service experience is a plus.
Ability to work with people and calm/deescalate tense situations when necessary.
Must be able to effectively prioritize daily work functions.
PHYSICAL MENTAL AND VISUAL SKILLS
Must have the ability and history of remaining calm and rational when confronted with stressful or volatile situations.
Must have a positive demeanor when in contact with the public and coworkers.
Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work environment is generally performed in an indoor and outdoor setting. Aquatics staff will typically work afternoon hours and weekends. Occasionally hours will be extended to cover Parks and Recreation programs and rentals.
POST OFFER TESTING REQUIRED
The City of Elkhart is a Drug Free Workplace. Therefore successfully passing a post offer drug screen is required (random drug testing may be conducted after employment).
Background checks producing acceptable BMV and criminal history reports required.
