JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Elementary Vocal Music Teacher
Position Summary: Provides instruction in the area of Vocal Music. Works to develop in each student an appreciation of the art of music as part of general culture. Helps students develop individual and group skill.
REPORTS TO: Principal
EXAMPLE (S) of WORK PERFORMED:
- Introduces students to music of high quality in a variety of types and styles.
- Develops students knowledge and skills in listening and reading music.
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to provide an orderly productive environment during practice group rehearsals and musical performances.
- Builds and maintains a program that attracts students.
- Plans rehearses and directs students in musical performances for school and community; applies knowledge of District procedures and limitations set on performances.
- Collaborates with other District music instructors to ensure continuity of instructional delivery and programming.
- Demonstrates appropriate long and short-term preparation for classroom instruction.
- Holds high expectations for all students and sees themselves as facilitators of student learning.
- Organizes and uses a variety of teaching techniques strategies materials and technology to maximize the learning of each child individually and in-group settings.
- Assess student progress provides students and parents with specific feedback and uses the results to adjust instruction as needed.
- Provides opportunities for academic support and challenge.
- Takes responsibility for teaching the district curriculum as outlined in the curriculum documents.
- Establishes clear objectives for all lessons units and projects and communicates these objectives to students.

- Reviews published educational materials for selection purposes; observes and evaluates student performance; checks students work corrects papers supervises testing; assesses the accomplishments of students and provides progress reports.
