Job Summary

Northern Gateway Public Schools is inviting applications from accomplished visionary leaders who are interested in joining Northern Gateway Public Schools in the following position:

Acting Assistant Principal at Elmer Elson Elementary School

Effective the 2026-2027 school year

Reporting directly to the Principal assistant principals are members of a team of skilled committed talented and progressive educators in an environment of site-based decision making.

The Acting Assistant Principal will have a part-time teaching assignment which will be determined based on education experience and school programming needs.

The successful candidate will:

have a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
work collegially and collaboratively with the Principal to embody visionary leadership
work with the Principal school staff students and the school council to support community engagement that will foster a collaborative school vision via the School Advancement Plan and school culture
support and cultivate teachers application of the domains of the NGPS Quality Learning Environment (QLE)
based on Inclusive Education practices demonstrate a commitment to student achievement through a focus on curriculum-instruction-assessment and the Teaching Quality Standard
have experience using and facilitating the application of a variety of technologies to support learning for all students
demonstrate a commitment to student achievement through a focus on literacy and numeracy programming support and intervention
have experience working with First Nation Metis and Inuit students and their families and assisting staff members in their application of foundational knowledge about First Nation Metis and Inuit
demonstrate a commitment to student achievement and success through a focus on the Collaborative Team Meeting (CTM) process
have successful elementary school teaching experience
have school-based leadership experience
have participated in or be willing to participate in the Northern Gateway Compass Leadership training program
work with school staff team to enhance staff wellness and team development and spirit
demonstrate outstanding communication and interpersonal skills and
have a related Masters Degree and Leadership Quality Standard Certificate or being willing to enroll in the programs to obtain these

Preference will be given to applicants who have demonstrated excellence in the nine leadership competencies outlined in The Leadership Quality Standard:
