Purpose

Student Organizations Prevention and Risk Education is an area within the Office of the Dean of Students that works to build the capacity of the institution and all student organizations to promote positive organizational culture and minimize high-risk behaviors. The area oversees hazing prevention the Safety Education Program the Successful Student Organizations Program and collaborations with units and stakeholders across campus. This position will serve as the Graduate Assistant to support the Successful Student Organizations Program (SSOP) a pilot curriculum that provides student organizations with holistic support to promote positive culture and minimize high risk behaviors. Additionally this role will have the opportunity to support general office operations.

  • Hours to be primarily scheduled between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

  • The primary administrative and project management lead for the Successful Student Organizations Program including but not limited to:
    • Schedule coordination between student organizations and facilitators including all additional applicable logistics.
    • Ensure all facilitators are prepared prior to any workshops they are leading including sharing and prepping workshop materials sending reminders etc.
    • Ensure all student organizations are fully prepared throughout the process including regular reminders sharing of workshop materials tracking of their progress troubleshooting etc.
    • Support the management of the SSOP Committee including sending materials for review writing feedback letters for student organizations guiding committee members through SSOP Rubric
  • Maintaining a system for effectively tracking the progress and making completion projections for all organizations engaging in the Successful Student Organizations Program (via ).
  • Supporting additional projects associated with the Successful Student Organizations Program including but not limited to facilitator management and training assessment curriculum design and more.
  • Regularly meet with supervisor for ideation updates and troubleshooting.
  • Contribute to the success of events programs communication and outreach efforts of the ODRR office.
  • Attend Student Organizations as well as Office of the Dean of Students meetings programs activities and events when appropriate.
  • Assist with administrative functions related to the role.
  • Assist with general office duties as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a currently enrolled graduate student (taking at least 9 hours).
  • Attention to detail and ability to work on time sensitive deadlines.
  • Ability to create processes and systems from scratch

Preferred Qualifications

  • A desire to work with college students and stakeholders who identify with their organization membership as a transformative experience.
  • Ability to utilize concepts of student development in program planning counseling and administrative duties.
  • Interest and knowledge of safety and risk management issues associated with student organizations on a college campus.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities and proven organizational skills.
  • Experience with Windows computer hardware and software or the ability to learn applications quickly (i.e. Microsoft office suite products).
  • Other experience/skills as relevant to specific position responsibilities

Salary
$19.33 per hour

Work Shift

  • Hours to be primarily scheduled between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
