Our goal is to be the first choice for families seeking an educational experience where every student is challenged supported and inspired to own their journey to mastery and independence in a community where they are truly known and valued.Position Summary Bancroft School seeks an Assistant Director of Diversity Equity Inclusion and Belonging for the 2026-2027 school year. The Assistant Director of DEIB is an integral part of the team. The Assistant Director reports to the Director of DEIB and will work with all constituent groups at Bancroft to ensure a sense of belonging and an inclusive equitable experience. The Assistant Director will focus primarily on student engagement in grades PK-12. As a community resource an important aspect of the role is working with and alongside the Director of DEIB and Division Heads to understand the many touchpoints of students daily experiences within the school to support diverse student identities and traditions while developing and refining systems within the school that promote cultural gender neurodivergent racial religious and socio-economic inclusion. This hire will serve as a strong positive presence in the life of the school partnering with faculty and staff to address DEIB-related issues when they arise. This position follows a standard academic calendar year with the addition of two flexible weeks of service during the summer based on departmental needs. Essential Responsibilities
- Support the Director in the design and implementation of school-wide programming and diversity-focused training for various constituencies.
- Coordinate student affinity groups by serving as an advisor and/or by providing ongoing professional development and logistical help to advisors/facilitators.
- Design and lead professional development that strengthens inclusive pedagogy equitable practices and cross-disciplinary DEIB integration.
- In conjunction with the Director of DEIB act as a resource and support for teaching a culturally responsive and equitable PK-12 curriculum.
- Teach one to one and a half courses including an identity-related course.
- Maintain a strong visible presence at school meetings division gatherings student activities and external events to actively support staff and students reinforce leadership engagement and strengthen connections across the entire school community.
- Represent the school in various internal and external capacities when needed including conferences hiring fairs and independent school events.
- Partner with the Director of DEIB to build relationships in the Greater Worcester community and strengthen all students cultural awareness.
- Support the Director of DEIBs ongoing strategic work with the Head of School Board of Trustees and Administrative Team.
- Support initiatives for the recruitment hiring and retention of employees of color at Bancroft.
- A bachelors degree is required.
- Experience in DEIB-related roles is preferred.
- Commitment to progressive education inquiry-based pedagogy and anti-racist practices.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively engage and facilitate difficult conversations and the ability to consider different perspectives issues and dynamics of difference.
- High degree of oral written and interpersonal communication skills to engage with a wide range of constituencies in a collaborative manner.
