The Product Repair Technician performs cosmetic and structural repairs on MRI coils. This role requires strong attention to detail problem-solving skills and accurate documentation of all repair work. The position involves hands-on repair tasks such as sanding surface preparation and plastic restoration. Candidates must be comfortable performing detailed repetitive work for extended periods while maintaining consistent quality standards.
Experience working with plastics is required including knowledge of sanding techniques and plastic repair materials. Cosmetic restoration is a key part of this role as MRI coils must meet high aesthetic and performance standards.
Main Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Perform advanced cosmetic and functional restoration of MRI coil assemblies ensuring compliance with OEM performance and aesthetic standards
Conduct detailed damage assessments to determine root cause repair feasibility and optimal restoration methodology
Execute precision mechanical disassembly and component preparation to support high-quality cosmetic and structural repair
Apply advanced plastics restoration techniques including surface reconstruction refinishing and structural reinforcement
Complete repairs in strict accordance with established SOPs and ISO 13485 quality standards
Manage repair materials and inventory controls proactively maintaining stock levels and system accuracy
- Collaborate with the team including Quality to support new repair process development
Maintain a clean organized and audit-ready workstation aligned with regulatory and safety standards
Participate in internal audits and quality reviews to ensure ongoing compliance with ISO 13485 and FDA Quality System Regulations
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required along with related job experience in cosmetic and plastics repair
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in plastics repair surface restoration sanding and cosmetic finishing
- Associates Degree (AS/AA) in Electronics Electrical Repair or a related field preferred; equivalent military training or technical repair experience is a plus
Knowledge Skills Abilities
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Strong multitasking skills capable of managing multiple high-priority tasks simultaneously
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
- Proactive hands-on and strategic thinker
- Committed to safety and security procedures ensuring proper use of equipment and materials
- Familiarity with painting and cosmetic repair processes
- Experience with soldering a plus
- Good mechanical abilities
