SUMMARY:
Evaluates and monitors the completion of loan files to ensure loans are underwritten and managed according to credit union policy and procedure. Provides prompt professional and courteous support and assistance to internal departments retail branches and members.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Examines loan documentation (Consumer direct & indirect and in-house Mortgage) for completion and accuracy according to credit union policies procedures and applicable regulations; makes judgment of necessary corrections or makes arrangements for appropriate personnel to make corrections.
- Tracks errors and exceptions to identify inconsistencies and patterns.
- Communicates tactfully to appropriate personnel regarding loan package deficiencies and necessary corrections within Synapsis service events.
- Tracks the flow of loan documentation to ensure they are imaged in a timely manner.
- Tracks and maintains Adverse Actions notices for denied or counter-offered applications.
- Performs monthly sample audits of credit disputes for accuracy.
- Performs quarterly sample audits of consumer loans for accuracy of credit reporting.
- Maintains insurance notices for additions modifications or cancellations on insurance policies by uploading to third party vendor who then monitors for force placed insurance.
- Cultivates and maintains appropriate relationships with members and co-workers.
- Actively participates all-staff meetings and learning courses in order to maintain awareness of organizational issues and promotional campaigns; stays current on policies procedures and compliance.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
The Loan Review Officer will exhibit excellent communication skills offering loan officers and Financial Consultants constructive advice on loan documents and loan operations in a positive manner. The Loan Review Officer will be well-organized focused and accurate in addition to being intuitive and motivated to take initiative as appropriate.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Maintains a positive attitude with employees and members and remains flexible while focused on accepted practices policy productivity and effectiveness.
- Promotes awareness of the credit union mission and brand statement to the credit union membership.
- Abides by the Service Standards established by the credit union.
- Strong knowledge of financial products and services.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma (or GED); and six months to two years related experience in a financial institution or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving variables in situations. In certain circumstances problem resolution may require considerable diplomacy while dealing with difficult people.
