Data Engineering Intern | Lisbon

Our Unbabel division is looking for a Data Engineering Intern to join our team.
As a Data Engineering Intern youll help design build and maintain the data infrastructure and pipelines that support Unbabels core products and analytics. This is a unique opportunity to learn how large-scale language and translation data is processed stored and analyzed in a real-world production environment.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with data engineers and other technical teams to understand business requirements and deliver data solutions.

• Assist in building testing and maintaining data pipelines (extraction transformation loadingETL) and data integrations.

• Help optimize the performance and reliability of our data workflows.

• Contribute to the documentation of data architecture pipelines and processes.

• Learn to work with structured and unstructured data from multiple sources.

• Support data quality effortsincluding monitoring testing and validation.

• Participate in daily team standups sprint planning and code reviews.

• Grow your skills in modern data tools programming and cloud technologies.

Must Have

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science Data Engineering Software Engineering or a related field or equivalent practical experience.

• Basic programming skillspreferably Python (or similar language).

• Interest in data engineering databases cloud services or big data.

• Understanding of fundamental data structures and concepts (e.g. tables schemas SQL or basic database querying).

• Curiosity and willingness to learn best practices in data engineering data processing and analytics.

• Ability to communicate in English and work collaboratively in a team.

• Eagerness to ask questions seek feedback and grow as an engineer.

Nice to Have

• Exposure to data pipeline tools or frameworks (e.g. Airflow dbt Luigi).

• Understanding of cloud platforms (e.g. AWS GCP Azure).

• Experience with data visualization or reporting (e.g. Tableau Power BI Looker).

• Previous participation in team projects (university personal open-source).
