Primary Purpose:
Ensure efficient operation of the Special Education Department office and provide clerical services for the Director of Special Education and special education staff. Assist in maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations and guidelines related to special education programs and services.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Proficient keyboarding and file maintenance skills
Ability to use software to develop spreadsheets databases and do word processing
Ability to maintain accurate auditable and confidential records
Knowledge of special education procedures terminology and compliance requirements preferred
Knowledge of basic accounting principles
Ability to interpret and follow district state and federal regulations
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to perform a variety of tasks often changing assignment on short notice
Effective organizational communication and interpersonal skills
Experience:
1 year of secretarial experience (school district or special education experience preferred)
