This department includes state prisons with custody healthcare and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Description of Work

Reporting to a Correctional Programs Supervisor at a multi-custody female correctional facility this position is primarily responsible for all aspects concerning a caseload of offenders. Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:

1. Providing supportive counseling to offenders.

2. Answering and following up on offender questions and problems.

3. Making recommendations to the classification committee.

4. Conducting assessments and developing case plans.

5. Assisting in major dynamic programs or coordinate major or specialized programs for the rehabilitation of offenders (such as offender work assignments work release education or recreation; as well as transition planning and coordinating).

6. Coordinating transition (re-entry) prior to parole or release into the community.


(Salary Range: $37377 - $65408)

This is afull-time position(40 hours per week) withState Benefitswith established working hours and may require working beyond normal work schedule to meet business need.

The salary grade for this position is NC07. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as or lower than their current position. If selected for this position a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience funding availability and internal equity. Based upon these factors a pay increase MAY result.

About Anson Correctional Institution:

Anson Correctional Institution houses female offenders in medium and close custody housing units. Anson CI offers a wide variety of educational vocational and training programs. Correction Enterprises operates the offender packaging operation at Anson a partnership with Union Supply Direct through the Prison Industry Enhancement Program (PIE). Family and friends can order a package of goods from a pre-approved shopping list to send to an offender. Orders are packaged by offenders and shipped quarterly

Minimum Education and Experience

Associate degree in Criminal Justice Human Services Recreation or a related field from an appropriately accredited institution; OR High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma AND two years of custody experience within the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Necessary Special Qualifications: Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
