TITLE: Director of Student Services
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Chief of School Support
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director of Student Services provides strategic leadership and oversight for programs that support student well-being academic success and access to services in a K8 district. This includes special education Section 504 McKinney-Vento health services counseling disciplinary processes attendance and student support initiatives. The Director ensures compliance with all state and federal regulations including IDEA Section 504 ESSA and Arizona state statutes while promoting safe and inclusive learning environments.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES:
- Oversees the daily functioning of Student Services School and District Safety Discipline Social and Emotional Learning and Diversity and Inclusion
- Leads the work of student safety and well-being throughout the district
- Facilitates Teacher and Administrative Support for Bullying Prevention Program Implementation
- Facilitates Teacher and Administrative Support for Suicide Prevention Curriculum Implementation
- Oversees trauma-informed care throughout the district
- Facilitates district communication in regards to behavioral health and school safety
- Trains site and district administration and staff on student safety bully prevention suicide prevention parent education abuse prevention trauma-informed care and wellness
- Ensures the District and school sites address diversity education through professional development and community forums
- Coordinates support services for at-risk parents/families
- Leads and trains the district and site crisis teams
- Models and co-teaches effective Tier III student supports for Social Workers site and district leadership
- Leads and implements Multi-Tiered Support Services for the district
- Coordinates outside agency and district supports for students and families
- Fosters and maintains open communication with staff students parents and community members
- Creates and facilitates a parent training initiative with wrap-around services for safety and social and emotional well-being of students and staff
- Analyzes and facilitates with the Director for Student Services Site Administrative Support for Student Behavior Data Functional Behavior Assessments Behavior Intervention Plans Threat Assessments
- Provides direct behavioral health management services to students and families as appropriate
- Addresses complaints from parents and community members with the goal of appropriate resolution
- Oversees long-term suspensions and/or expulsions of students
- Oversees Student Services Littleton Online Academy Program Placement
- Works with Human Resources to provide support to all staff in protocol during crisis intervention
- Performs other related duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters Degree in Education.
- Minimum of three years of job-related administrative experience in K-8 public education.
- Understanding of student attendance laws intervention processes and truancy prevention
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interactions with families staff students and community partners
- Ability to analyze student data (academic behavioral attendance and social-emotional) to drive decisions
- Demonstrated ability to navigate difficult conversations and resolving conflicts with professionalism and empathy
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
- Arizona Principal Certificate
- IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong organizational and project-management skills to oversee multiple programs and compliance timelines
- Competence in crisis management including student intervention and de-escalation strategies
- Technological proficiency in student information systems data dashboards and education software

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Knowledge of federal and state education laws including IDEA Section 504 ADA FERPA and ESSA
- Knowledge of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) including academic behavioral and social-emotional frameworks
- Knowledge of crisis response protocols threat assessment procedures and student safety measures
- Knowledge of data collection data privacy and data-based decision-making for student support planning
- Strong leadership decision-making and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and judgment in complex student-related situations
- Strong collaboration skills to work with administrators teachers service providers and external agencies
- Skill in developing and delivering professional development for staff
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Position in this class typically require use of hands talking hearing
seeing and repetitive motions. Exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of
force frequently or constantly lift carry push pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting for a portion of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve months. Salary and work year to be established by the Board. Telecommute eligibility established by the Governing Board in accordance with Policies GCC & GDD.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Boards Policy on Evaluation of Administrative Personnel.
