The NC State Highway Patrol is seeking an enthusiastic team member to join the Support Operations team to support public safety transparency and community awareness through high-quality video and multimedia content. This position is responsible for producing accurate engaging video content that supports public safety initiatives recruitment training and public information efforts. The Video Production Specialist plans records edits and delivers high-quality video productions and livestreams using standard and specialized audio-visual equipment and digital editing systems. The role supports the full production lifecycle collaborates with sworn and civilian staff and ensures content aligns with agency messaging and communication addition this position assists with equipment management asset organization and technical coordination to support efficient production operations across the agency.

Management Prefers:

  • Demonstrated understanding of technical and digital video and audio production and editing techniques.

  • Demonstrated video and audio recording and editing skills using non-linear editing software.

  • Experience covering and recording live events.

  • Working knowledge of audio recording microphone selection and placement and audio editing.

  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Produces professional video and multimedia content in support of public safety recruitment training educational and public information initiatives for the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

  • Operates standard and specialized video audio lighting and digital media equipment to record events interviews training activities and agency operations.

  • Performs post-production tasks including video editing audio balancing color correction and application of visual effects using computer-based editing and production systems.

  • Supports livestreaming and broadcast operations using approved platforms to deliver timely and reliable public information.

  • Coordinates with Public Information Office staff communication officers and subject matter experts to plan content confirm messaging and obtain required approvals prior to release.

  • Assists with pre-production planning by researching topics determining content scope length and format and preparing locations and equipment for filming.

  • Directs on-camera talent as needed to ensure clear delivery accuracy and professional presentation.

Position/Physical Requirements

  • Typical work schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

  • Requires a valid North Carolina Drivers License and the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle as assigned by the Department.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelors degree in public relations broadcasting emerging media radio television production or a related field from an appropriately accredited institution
AND

one year of progressive related experience (experience in video and multimedia production filming editing livestreaming or digital media content creation)
OR

an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The office manages the perception and branding of SHP responds to public records requests and coordinates external communications to stakeholders partners and the people of North Carolina. The director and deputy directors regularly must consult with the governors office managers subject matter experts legal counsel and other agency leaders when working on projects program development or topics generating public and media addition there is a continuous effort to educate the public and publicize the many services SHP provides and the exceptional work done by our employees. The role of the Public Information Office is to help ensure that there is consistent and accurate messaging across the Department.

Veterans and National Guard Preference
