JOB TITLE: OAAP HIGH SCHOOL SPECIAL EDUCATION FACILITATOR
JOB SUMMARY: The OAAP Special Education Facilitator is a key leader and support resource in ensuring the effective implementation of special education programs and services. This position coordinates compliance with federal state and district regulations supports teachers and paraprofessionals in developing and executing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and fosters collaboration between general and special education staff to promote student success.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Compliance & Pathway Management: Ensure all IEPs state-specific assessments and graduation documentation are completed to meet compliance standards. Oversee the integrity of the Oklahoma Alternate Diploma Pathway. Serve as the district representative for eligibility and IEP meetings as assigned.
- Instructional Coaching: Evaluate and implement specialized evidence-based curricula. Act as an instructional coach for teachers and paraprofessionals providing feedback and training to ensure high-quality data collection on student IEP goals.
- Transition Planning & Post-Secondary Outcomes: Lead the design and implementation of comprehensive Transition IEPs ensuring all state-required transition assessments are conducted and translated into measurable post-secondary goals. Help secure diverse opportunities for students in integrated employment community participation and independent living.
- Vocational & Community Strategy: Direct the districts transition partnerships (e.g. DRS DDS) and vocational initiatives (e.g. Not Your Average Joes). Facilitate school-to-work opportunities including paid work experiences and on-the-job training programs.
- Behavioral & Classroom Support: Provide behavioral observation and instructional strategies to support staff and students in reducing classroom barriers and fostering a positive learning environment.
- Logistics & Transitions: Coordinate complex operational needs including specialized transportation and the critical 8th-to-9th grade transition process ensuring families understand the implications of the OAAP track.
- Inclusive Advocacy: Manage and promote stakeholder engagement through initiatives like Special Olympics Unified Student Organization and community information expos.
EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate or the credentials to obtain one priorto employment.
- 5 Years of successful experience teaching special education or any equivalentcombination of experience and training that provides the required knowledgeskills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Masters Degree preferred.
- Organizational skills basic mathematical skills basic computer skills andcommunication skills are an essential part of this job.
- Extensive knowledge of special education law policies and procedures.
- Training or certification in behavior management and intervention strategies (e.g. CPI PBIS) or willingness to obtain
- Proficiency with special education data systems (e.g. EdPlan)
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Will be required to regularly stand; walk; and sit for extended periods.
- Must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift
and/or move objects up to 50 pounds. - May experience constant interruptions inflexible deadlines and changes to
normal routines. - The ability to communicate with various groups of people is essential.
This may include communication with parents teachers transportation
administrators and outside agencies.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- 199 day contract
- Facilitator Pay ratio
STATUS: Exempt Certified
