The Post Award Grants Accountant will provide financial oversight for all federal state and other externally sponsored projects. This position operates within the Finance Department.
Responsibilities:
Key areas of responsibility include financial reporting budget oversight time and effort reporting and adherence to federal cost guidelines for all sponsored addition this position will maintain the integrity of grants data housed in enterprise resource systems such as Financial Edge ensuring that systems provide accurate reporting to program staff sponsors and other GMRI internal and external stakeholders. The position will have regular interaction with Sponsored Projects staff Administrators and Program Managers throughout the organization as well as external funding agencies when required.
Other areas of focus include:
- Thorough understanding of GMRIs project financial reporting and general ledger structure
- Design and management of grant expense approvals in the invoice automation platform
- Review of grant invoices and drawdowns
- Indirect cost allocations and procedures
- Financial management and monitoring of federal sub-awards and sub-contracts
- Preparation of the Schedule of Federal Awards (SEFA) and audit support
- Continuous learning of Uniform Guidance leading to development of organizational procedures that demonstrate steps for achieving compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in accounting or business administration or the equivalent required.
- Minimum of five years of experience in non-profit fund accounting budgets and financial reporting;
- Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge or similar fund accounting platforms;
- Strong organizational and time management skills;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office especially Excel Microsoft Word and Outlook
- Attention to detail and comfortable working in a compliance-centered environment; familiarity with Uniform Guidance is desired.
