Position Criteria:
- Valid Iowa Teaching License required
- 5-12 Business required
- 5-12 Computer Science required
Performance Criteria:
- Willingness to create simultaneous changes in curriculum instruction assessment and reporting practices in a standards-based environment.
- Understanding of the developmental nature of the high school learner and demonstrated ability to support growth of the whole child in a positive manner.
- Understanding of authentic learning and engagement including Iowa Cores Universal Constructs.
- Demonstrated flexibility high levels of motivation and enthusiasm when working with high school learners.
- Facilitate student-driven learning by playing the role of a learning coach and manager not a dispenser of knowledge.
- Facilitate inquiry-based learning through authentic pedagogy like professional-based learning and learning by design.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity in all areas reserve judgment and maintain an open mind (i.e. the curriculum is never completed always changing) in a fast-paced environment.
- Work with the high school counseling department and content areas to ensure student transitions are seamless.
- Develop and utilize formative and summative authentic assessments including use of standards-based assessment and reporting.
- Involve parents and communities in supporting student learning.
- Provide ongoing communication with families and the community.
- Engage in ongoing professional learning.
- Act as a liaison to communicate and support other colleagues in the K-12 system to promote relevant and authentic learning.
