Key Responsibilities
Role Responsibilities
As a Fire Engineering Summer Intern youll work alongside experienced professionals to help create safer and more resilient buildings. Youll gain insight into how fire engineering fits within design construction and building management supporting live projects and learning from specialists in the field.
Your day-to-day could include:
Learning from Experienced Professionals: Youll work alongside engineers and consultants observing and supporting their work on real projects. This is a chance to see how fire safety is considered in the design and management of buildings.
Supporting Project Work: You may help with tasks such as reviewing building plans preparing documents or gathering information needed for fire safety assessments. Your work will contribute to ensuring that buildings are safe and meet regulations.
Collaborating with Teams: Expect to work closely with other interns engineers and consultants. Youll attend team meetings share updates and learn how different roles come together to deliver a project.
Developing Technical and Interpersonal Skills: Youll be encouraged to ask questions seek feedback and take on new challenges. This will help you build both your technical understanding of fire engineering and your confidence in working with others.
Participating in Training and Development: RLB offers learning sessions mentoring and opportunities to develop your skills. Youll be supported to grow whether its through formal training or informal guidance from your colleagues.
Contributing to a Positive Team Culture: Youll be recognised for being proactive positive and willing to help others. Being a team player and showing a strong willingness to learn are highly valued.

Were looking for people who are curious motivated and ready to learn. Youll be studying a degree in Fire Engineering Building Services Mechanical Engineering Architecture or a related discipline and have a genuine interest in how fire safety shapes the built environment.
