About the Role

Product Principal Clinical Platform Strategy & Modernization is a senior individual-contributor role responsible for defining the future-state clinical platform architecture supporting Case Management (CM) Disease Management (DM) and Utilization Management (UM) across our enterprise.

This role partners closely with executive stakeholders across Product Technology Clinical Services and Health Plans to move the organization from assessment to actionable architectural direction. The Principal will lead system rationalization build-vs-buy strategy integration design and IP boundary definition to establish a clear enterprise-aligned Clinical Platform that natively embraces emerging technologies.

This role does not have people-management responsibilities and is designed for a highly experienced product/platform leader who operates with significant autonomy and executive credibility.

What Youll Do


Enterprise Clinical Platform Strategy
  • Define a future-state CM / DM / UM platform architecture aligned to long-term clinical operational and AI-enabled strategy.
  • Establish an enterprise north star for clinical platform modernization that balances innovation scalability regulatory requirements and cost efficiency.
  • Translate business strategy and clinical workflow needs into clear platform-level product and architectural direction.
System Evaluation & Rationalization
  • Evaluate existing CM DM and UM platforms workflows and redundancies across the enterprise.
  • Identify opportunities for system consolidation deprecation or modernization with a focus on reducing duplicative spend and operational overhead.
  • Develop a current-state vs. future-state system rationalization narrative including sequencing considerations and dependencies.
Build vs. Buy & IP Strategy
  • Assess third-party and internal vendor solutions to determine license partner or build-in-house recommendations.
  • Define which capabilities constitute distinctive competencies versus commoditized services.
  • Partner with Technology and Product leadership to defend and evolve distinctive competencies in AI-enabled clinical workflows insights and decisioning.
Integration & Platform Design
  • Assess integration touchpoints with adjacent enterprise systems.
  • Define integration patterns ownership boundaries and interaction models across systems.
Architecture Visualization & Communication
  • Produce a Platform Architecture Visualization.
  • Develop program artifacts that are executive-ready and usable for cross-functional investment decisioning planning sequencing and alignment.
Execution Transition & Rollout Leadership
  • Translate approved platform strategy architectural direction and system rationalization decisions into actionable execution plans in partnership with Vendor Product Engineering Enterprise Architecture and Health Plan teams.
  • Define phased rollout and transition strategies including sequencing dependencies and risk mitigation across CM / DM / UM capabilities.
  • Partner with delivery leaders to ensure future-state architecture is faithfully implemented across the Enterprise.

Whats Required


  • 12 years of experience in product management product strategy product development with exposure to payer systems or regulated healthcare environments.
  • Demonstrated success leading enterprise-scale platform definition re-platforming or transformation efforts.
  • Understanding of clinical workflows and their supporting technologies.
  • Proven experience making and defending build vs. buy and system rationalization decisions across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Track record of influencing executive stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Fluency in modern platform architectures including:

    - Modular and composable systems
    - API-driven integration patterns
    - Data platforms and analytics
    - AI/ML-enabled decisioning data insights and workflow automation
  • Ability to bridge clinical operational product and technical perspectives into cohesive platform direction.
  • Comfort operating at the intersection of business strategy and system design.
  • Executive-level communication skills including the ability to:

    - Synthesize complexity into clear narratives and visuals
    - Drive alignment across federated organizations
    - Challenge assumptions constructively
  • Operate with high autonomy judgment and accountability as a senior individual contributor.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and incomplete information to produce decisive direction.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer
  • This role requires travel for up to 5% of work-time.
  • This role requires support of the business hours 8 am to 5 pm EST.
Whats Preferred
  • Experience in large payer organizations healthcare platforms or scaled health-tech companies.
  • Prior role as a Principal Distinguished Engineer/Product Leader or equivalent IC in a complex enterprise environment.
  • Exposure to AI-enabled clinical or operational systems is strongly preferred.

Compensation & Benefits


The expected total cash compensation for this role is market-driven with an expected starting salary of $241500 to $287500. Salary is ultimately determined based on a candidates skills expertise and experience.
