Description of Service Opportunity:
The 2026 Summer Building Nurse will join one of 7 building based-operations teams to support the needs of students participating in onsite summer programs. Working under the direction of the CPS Operations Manager and Charge Nurse the Nurse will be responsible for supporting medication management for students in CPS academic programs and general first aid for up to 200 students per building.
The Summer Building Nurse will be onsite from 8am - 2:00 pm (30 hrs per week) for 4 weeks from Monday July 7 - Monday August 1st. In addition Summer Nurses will work up to 8 hours of pre-program preparation including orientation.
Nurses will be hired to support one of the following buildings: Nurses will be hired to support one of the following buildings: CRLS Haggerty M.L. King/ PAUS King Open/CSUS Morse Peabody/RAUC and Tobin/ the event that all positions are not filled nurses will be required to support two buildings.
Duties will include:
Collaborate with Summer Program Site Coordinators on maintaining up to date student health information for the summer.
Promote and support COVID safety protocols including appropriate procedures for students exposed or displaying symptoms of COVID-19 infection.
Oversee and administer medication; per student medical records and IEP/ 504 plans.
Respond appropriately to health emergencies and offer appropriate First Aid.
Assess the social and emotional climate for the students.
Help establish a positive school culture and climate where every child feels safe and respected.
MinimumRequirements:
Requirements:
Must be a Registered Nurse Licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physicians Assistant.
Must have three (3) to five (5) years of experience in nursing
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to be empathic and listen to others.
Preference will be given to current CHA employees.
Experience working with youth. Nursing experience within a school setting preferred.
Length of Contract:
July 1 2026 to July 31 2026
Contract Amount
Not exceed $9728.00
Please note that your hourly rate is dependent upon your collective bargaining agreement or individual hourly rate. If you are a non-exemptemployee and have worked more than 40 hours a week you will be paid time and a half for any hours worked over 40 hours
