The Large Power Systems Division in Lafayette IN currently has an opening for a 2-4 year competency-based Quality Electrician Apprenticeshipprogram. This program has been developed to meet the needs for qualified Maintenance Technicians in the Lafayette Facility through on-the-job training and achieving a Technical Certificate through Ivy Tech. After entry into the program the trainee will be required to accomplish electrical and/or mechanical repair and preventative maintenance for the Coordinate Measurement Machines Adcole Crankshaft equipment Tool Setters and other miscellaneous inspection equipment. This position will require close involvement with the certification and calibration of Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM). This position is responsible for writing purchase orders for repair components making repairs and/or arranges for repairs with outside suppliers. Closely involved with ISO9001 process and the Corporate Gage System to maintain accurate records. Statistical Process Control training is required and provided for this position. This position is responsible for maintaining back up programs for electronic gaging in the shop. This position will support all electronic handheld gaging in the facility. Has responsibility to maintain optical comparators in the machine shop.

The trainee will be assigned to a variety of training stations with specific learning activities throughout the facility that pertain to their skill path and will rotate between first second and third shifts as needed to complete learning requirements. Upon successful completion of the program the trainee will be given the opportunity to become SG6 Quality Electrician within Quality this training individuals will be required to attend classes at Ivy Tech State College and complete classroom work. The classroom portion of the training program will take place on and off shift with a mixture being around 50%.Preparation must be made to work 8 hours on shift and then attend class when classes fall on the off shift.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Strong background in maintenance and desire to learn CMM operation systems Adcole operation systems Tool Setter repair and maintenance repair and maintenance of handheld electronic gaging etc.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift push and pull up to 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to bend and twist at the waist and be able to squat.
  • Must be able to stand on concrete for 8 hours.

Additional Information:

  • Location of this position is in Lafayette IN
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Any relocation costs incurred would be the responsibility of the selected applicant.
  • Program will be on 1st shift (6:30am-2:30pm). Will transitioned to 2nd Shift (2:30pm-10:30pm) after apprenticeship is completed.
  • 40-hour work weeks with potential for Overtime
  • 13 days/104 hours of paid Personal Time Off (PTO) - (Prorated based upon start date)
