Job Description Summary
Advises students prospective students and parents with all aspects of financial aid both in person and via phone and email communications. Ensures excellent customer service by guiding students through the completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid ( FAFSA ) intake assessment and verification of supporting documentation providing financial aid assistance and outreach to high school educators and other target markets.
Duties
1. Counsels and advises students regarding financial aid opportunities and the application process. Assists students in identifying sources of aid and applicable requirements and regulations. 2. Maintains a thorough knowledge of federal and state financial aid and scholarship rules and regulations. 3. Serves as primary personnel for all Financial Aid outreach and recruiting; including FAFSA events High School visitation and cross-departmental participation in other A-B Tech events related to enrollment management. Partners with Admissions and other agencies to develop new outreach opportunities. 4. Works with the Director to develop promote and recruit with scholarship workshops to market the scholarship programming at the College with current students as well as externally including area high school to assist all student groups in the greater community in awareness of and applying for applicable scholarships. 5. Assists Director of Financial Aid to develop financial literacy objectives and presentations for campus and outside constituents. 6. Assists in the processing and reconciliation of funds to ensure compliance with federal or state agencies. 7. Determines eligibility and awards financial aid by processing applications making corrections documenting tracking and completing the verification process. 8. Scans and routes necessary information and forms into SIS and document imaging systems. 9. Completes and catalogs various calculations related to student awards such as scholarship processing. 10. Processes outside agency forms. 11. Assists with student correspondence and reports as needed. 12. Communicates with appropriate state and federal agencies to resolve any conflicting issues as needed. 13. Contributes to the College Vision Mission Values and RISE statement. 14. Supports workforce diversity in all its aspects. 15. Performs other job-related responsibilities as required.
Preferred Qualifications
1. One years of full-time or equivalent experience working in financial aid. 2. Experience with community outreach and/or higher education student services related field. 3. Proficiency in a foreign language such as Spanish an East Slavic language and/or American Sign Language.
