Job Description Summary

Summary: The Senior Development Coordinator Academic Fundraising works in close partnership with the Associate Vice President (AVP) to support the engagement and strategic direction of the Academic and the Program for Leadership and Character fundraising teams. Serving as a trusted operational and strategic partner this role facilitates clear communication reporting and information-sharing across academic and community-based fundraising teams on behalf of the AVP.

The Senior Development Coordinator drives collaboration ensures seamless execution of priorities and contributes to a mission-driven culture within University Advancement. This position requires strong project management skills data-informed decision-making sound judgment and the ability to align people and processes in support of Advancements engagement and development goals.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Provides executive-level and administrative support to the AVP including strategic management and prioritization of the AVPs calendar. Drives and tracks meeting agendas anticipates needs prepares the AVP for appointments and meetings and exercises sound judgment in escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Provides operational administrative and project management support to the Director of Development for the Program for Leadership and Character.
  • Coordinates workflow on behalf of the AVP by prioritizing and managing tasks related to project management travel coordination data analysis web content updates and donor portfolio maintenance in support of University fundraising priorities.
  • Oversees project execution by monitoring milestones reporting progress to the AVP and Academic Unit Fundraising teams and proactively identifying and addressing risks or barriers to successful completion.
  • Serves as a central liaison between the AVP and Academic Deans offices Academic Fundraising teams Community teams the Director of Development for the Program for Leadership and Character and other development units to align priorities communicate goals and facilitate coordinated action.
  • In partnership with Prospect Research and Constituent and Donor Specialists provides oversight coordination and reporting on prospect identification portfolio management and pipeline movement for academic unit fundraising teams leveraging data insights to inform strategy donor engagement and decision-making.
  • Serves as a conduit and close partner for all academic unit coordinators through the portfolio and prospect management operations.
  • Develops and implements operational processes that enhance efficiency drive engagement and support a high-functioning and effective fundraising operation.
  • Analyzes and interprets operational data presenting actionable insights to the AVP to support fundraising and engagement strategies and ensures that all reporting and documentation align with organizational standards and goals.

Required Education Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelors degree plus a minimum of five years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills with the ability to oversee multiple projects and priorities.
  • Proven experience fostering a mission-driven and equitable team culture.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to the highest ethical standards.
  • Ability to remain organized responsive and effective while managing multiple tasks and deadlines and competing priorities.
  • Excellent computer skills including high proficiency with Google Workplace applications as well as Microsoft Suite. Demonstrated ability to learn and effectively utilize new technologies and technical skills and seek training as needed.
  • Respect for the dignity and abilities of all people.

Preferred Education Skills and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with a Development/Advancement environment.
  • Experience working with prospect/constituent management in a development database.
  • Previous experience working in a higher education or not-for-profit environment.
  • Knowledge of Wake Forest and its alumni parents and friends.

Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for own work.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions:

Sedentary work primarily involving sitting/standing; communicating with others to exchange information; repeating motions that may include the wrists hands and/or fingers; and assessing the accuracy neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned. No adverse environmental conditions expected.
