The Opportunity
The School of Manufacturing Automation & Transportation is recruiting a Lab Technician (Millwright I). Reporting to the Academic Chair these positions provide maintenance and service support to the Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Machinist programs. Typical duties include: Maintaining & repair operational equipment demonstration equipment instrumentation analytical equipment and other mechanical components related to the Millwright trade. Provide Mechanical & technical support to other sections such as Machinist section as required. Monitor & Maintain inventory levels for equipment and lab consumables. Monitor & Maintain hand tools power tools and tool boards. Maintain inventory of all tooling.
The Role
- Maintenance Repairs and Lab Support:
- Perform maintenance & repairs to operational and non-operational equipment to OEM standards under the supervision of a Journeyperson.
- Control & maintain inventory used in the Machinist and Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) labs insuring all tooling is accounted for
- Maintain hand tools power tools and tool boards
- Prepare & maintain demonstration equipment for the instructors in the labs
- Provide mechanical support to other sections when required
- Provide technical support to the Machinist/Millwright sections and others sections as required
- Research equipment specifications for proper repair schedules and procedures
- Provide recommendations regarding new and repaired equipment maintenance planning and/or parts required to correct any problems or safety issues
- Safety Duties:
- Conduct safety inspections in the school and proceed with remedial tasks and documentation based on inspection results
- Responsible for maintaining proper maintenance records and inspection reports on all equipment in the labs/shops
- Ensure hazardous waste is contained and disposed of in accordance with campus standards and Canadian safety standards
- Purchasing and Procurement
- Purchase materials and tooling for Machinist and Millwright sections.
- Support the rest of the School of Manufacturing and Automation with purchasing as required
- Work with dedicated stockkeepers to maintain supply levels and vendor relationships
Qualifications & Experience
- Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) with Red Seal
- Class 5 Drivers license
- Emergency First Aid

Salary: $78811.10
Hours Per Week: 40
