General Summary:
The Assistant Imaging Technologist provides essential support to the radiology team in delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging services to pediatric patients. This role combines technical assistance patient care and administrative duties in a fast-paced pediatric healthcare environment.
This position will work either 6:30a-3p or 11a-7:30p.
Essential Job Functions:
Provides comprehensive patient care throughout treatments and procedures in accordance with department and hospital standards with particular attention to age-specific sensitivities and developmental needs.
Coordinates with clinical and medical staff to optimize patient flow and department operations.
Monitors schedules and communicates delays to coordinators charge technologists and patients.
Verifies patient demographic information and medical records for accuracy and documents patient care activities in the electronic health record to ensure complete and accurate clinical documentation.
Prepares and sets up examination rooms with necessary supplies and equipment.
Verifies required paperwork and physician orders prior to procedures.
Assists in patient positioning and preparation for imaging procedures.
Explains procedures to patients and answers basic questions escalating clinical inquiries to appropriate clinical staff.
Escorts and transports patients safely throughout the department.
Assists technologists nurses and physicians during examination procedures.
Assist with patient care in preparation for MRI procedures by helping with changing attire and accurately recording height and weight measurements
Processes and manages documentation for completed examinations.
Monitors inventory of supplies and Radiology Contrast Media managing rotation and reordering.
Ensures proper cleaning and sanitization of examination rooms maintaining an organized and efficient work environment.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting preferably in pediatrics
Current BLS certification
Physical ability to assist in patient transfers and equipment handling
Must demonstrate strong organizational skills the ability to problem-solve and support teamwork in a multidisciplinary setting
Computer skills required must maintain competence working in Epic and basic Microsoft Office skills PACS system knowledge
Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
