Job Summary

Position Summary
Reporting to the AVP and Director CCEL the Civic Education and Engagement will lead the strategic development and early implementation of Fordham Universitys Civic Education Program. Drawing on the FitzSimons Initiative this role will help position Fordham University as a national leader in civic education dialogue and public service leadership. The Coordinator will build the foundation partnerships and governance structures necessary for long-term growth with implementation supported by the division of External Affairs faculty partners student leaders and community organizations.

Essential Functions
Designs high-impact civic engagement models that emphasize dialogue democratic participation and applied learning. Assesses and maps existing civic education and civic learning efforts across Fordhams schools and programs. Cultivates relationships with nonprofit government and civic organizations across New York City to support student-facing learning opportunities. Shapes a communications and storytelling strategy that elevates civic engagement work through media publications and digital platforms. Develops and leads a Public Advocacy and Youth Leadership Seminar. Guides the creation of pathways for students to present research projects and policy proposals to community stakeholders and public officials. Supports the development of a Civic Leadership microcredential including learning outcomes and assessment models. Establishes and advises a Student Civic Advisory Council modeling democratic engagement and shared governance. Provides strategic oversight for the planning of a flagship Civic Leadership Conference ensuring alignment with Fordhams mission and NYCs civic landscape.

Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree in education public policy political science public administration nonprofit management or a related field. Experience working within a college or university setting. Familiarity with national civic education initiatives or coalitions. Experience advising faculty or student leadership bodies. Background in public policy advocacy or public service leadership. Experience with institutional strategy assessment or program design
