A role with Strategic Sourcing is a chance to positively impact several key areas of Targets business. Your input will ensure that Target realizes the expected value from the terms of our agreements that comprise nearly $15 billion in annual spend towards innovative and competitively priced goods and services. Position Description

In the role of Strategic Sourcing Contracts Lead you will support Targets Procurement organization by providing timely guidance to our team & our internal business partners and will support our contract negotiations with Targets indirect (non-retail) vendors. Contract negotiations involve multiple contract types including non-disclosure agreements goods and services agreements consulting agreements and technology agreements (including hardware agreements software licensing agreements and software-as-a service (SaaS) agreements). You will act as a liaison to Targets Law department and other enterprise teams and will play an integral role in driving change and achieving successful contract negotiations with speed and agility while balancing between contract risks and business goals.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and provide written virtual and in-person contract training and self-help tools
  • Ensure contract templates and resources are up to date in contract management systems
  • Develop and implement best practices for contract management and administration in compliance with applicable policies and influence those policies as appropriate
  • Collaborate with other enterprise teams to ensure contracts contain appropriate terms and adhere to any compliance measures
  • Negotiate with vendor representatives as appropriate

Current in office requirement is one day per week. Our return to office strategy may be fluid so in office requirements may increase over time.

About you

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree (preferred)
  • Admitted or eligible for admission to the Minnesota bar (preferred)
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience negotiating and drafting agreements for a variety of transactions including goods services and technology (HW SW SaaS etc.)
  • Experience assessing and balancing contract risks and business goals
  • Experience developing and leading innovative contracting strategies that result in best-in-class outcomes on complex/ambiguous programs
  • Ability to deliver clear and concise advice and risk identification in a timely manner in accordance with applicable guidelines and policies
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Communicate contracting strategy and recommendations using insights visuals and storytelling tailored to the business audience
  • Independent organized and detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task on a large number of projects
  • Ability to collaborate across departments to drive cross-functional alignment
  • Experience with contract management systems and/or e-Procurement systems
  • Experience applying automation AI and market intelligence tools to improve contracting outcomes

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Targets needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team members core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually depending upon what your role team and tasks require for that day.
