Job Summary

Summary:
The Academy of the Holy Names seeks a Certified Lifeguard for Summer on Bayshore to supervise swimming activities the pool area as well as indoor and outdoor play for campers ages 3 to 14. Lifeguards are to be responsible quick-thinking and capable of making sound decisions while ensuring a safe environment.

Reports to: Director of Auxiliary Programs and Assistant Director of Camp Operations

Qualifications:
  • Current Lifeguard Certification or ability to renew before April 1st.
  • Must be 17 years or older

Classification: Seasonal hourly position

Responsibilities:
  • Lifeguard is responsible for the safety and supervision of each camper from age three (3) to fourteen (14) years of age in and around the pool or supervised area.
  • Lifeguard is responsible to assist in the campers transitions including but not limited to: walking campers back after swimming directing to the next camp activity and/or to lunch if needed.
  • Lifeguard assists in the management of counselors campers coaches and volunteers at and around the pool to provide a safe pool environment
  • Lifeguards must be present and an active supervisor when campers are using the pool.
  • Lifeguard will assist with inside games in the event pool time is canceled due to weather.
  • Lifeguards are required to have current Safe Environment Training (SET) and will participate in a training session prior to the first day of Summer Camp.
  • Lifeguards acknowledge that positions may be changed/altered due to the needs of Summer on Bayshore and weather.
  • In the event of an unforeseeable circumstance where the Lifeguard will be unable to attend the week of a camp it is their responsibility to notify the Director of Auxiliary Programs and the Summer Camp Director directly by phone and email.
