Job Summary

We are seeking a talented and passionate Chef de Partie - Pastry to join our culinary team in Sofitel Brisbane Central. As a key member of our kitchen staff you will be responsible for creating exquisite pastries and desserts that delight our guests and uphold our reputation for excellence.

  • Prepare and present a wide range of high-quality pastries desserts and baked goods
  • Assist in developing new menu items and refining existing recipes
  • Maintain the highest standards of food safety hygiene and sanitation in the pastry kitchen
  • Collaborate effectively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations
  • Manage inventory place orders and control costs for pastry ingredients and supplies
  • Train and supervise junior pastry staff fostering their skill development
  • Collaborate with the sous chef and head chef to maintain kitchen efficiency
  • Ensure consistent quality and presentation of all pastry items
  • Contribute creative ideas for special events and seasonal menu changes
  • Adapt to changing priorities and maintain efficiency during peak service times
  • Stay current with pastry trends and techniques to continually improve our offerings.

Qualifications :

  • Trade Qualification in Commercial Cookery or patisserie 
  • Completed culinary training or apprenticeship
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Demi Chef or equivalent role in pastry
  • Extensive knowledge of pastry techniques recipes and current trends
  • Proven ability to create visually stunning and delicious desserts
  • Excellent communication skills in English both verbal and written
  • Food safety and hygiene certification
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced high-pressure environment
  • Creativity and innovation in dessert presentation and flavor combinations
  • Team-oriented mindset with a collaborative approach to kitchen operations
  • Attention to detail and commitment to consistent high-quality output
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts including weekends and holidays as needed.
