Schedule: 40 hrs./week Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm
Travel Requirements:This position travels daily throughout Western Washington State and on occasion over the Cascades to Yakima and Wenatchee.
What you will be doing:
The Surplus Operations primary responsibilities are to keep State and Federal surplus property out of the landfills (reutilizing property wherever possible) and to maximize the dollars that are returned to agencies. Under the direction of the Equipment Operator Supervisor this position is responsible to safely operate a semi-tractor trailer combination vehicles rated at 80000 Gross Combined Weight (GCW) to transport standard surplus items that our customers wish for us to pick up from their location in the form of pallets and/or loose items that consist of furniture electronics and equipment from state agencies and the states poly-subs.Please note: this position isnt solely a driving position. As a Truck Driver 3 youll be loading and unloading the truck too using dollies and other equipment.

The majority of work is performed getting in and out of vehicles of varying sizes. Deliveries are made to multiple locations within tight timelines. Traffic delays mechanical problems and breakdowns inclement weather and physical demands of loading and unloading heavy items are to be expected. Some work is performed in a non-climate controlled warehouse and you will be exposed to excessive dust. Must be willing and able to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods in noisy conditions without loss of concentration. You will have frequent contact with internal and external customers. Interpersonal skills are required. It is of the upmost importance that all communication is done with a positive attitude and in a professional manner. Must be able to answer questions about services and provide accurate information. Must be able to defuse customer concerns.

Majority of work is performed getting in and out of vehicles of varying sizes. Deliveries are made to multiple locations within tight timelines. Traffic delays mechanical problems and breakdowns inclement weather and physical demands of loading and unloading heavy items are to be expected. Some work is performed in a non-climate controlled warehouse and you may be exposed to excessive dust. Must be willing and able to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods in noisy conditions without loss of concentration.
Tools and Equipment:
Must be able to safely operate motor vehicles heavy equipment (Tractor Peterbilt flatbed car hauler box truck 32-45 dry van trailer 40 swing door trailer misc. trailers electric wench heavy duty all-terrain forklift tie downs hand trucks forklifts dock plates cell phone and pallet jacks standard office equipment including a computer handheld tracking device telephone printer and copy machine.
REQUIRED:
High school diploma or GED
AND
- Two (2) years of full-time experience operating any combination of vehicles with a Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR) of 80000 or more pounds and a class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements as requiredby Federal law
- Possess a valid drivers license free from any serious traffic violations ANDthe ability to obtain and maintain appropriate endorsements
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening (see Supplemental section regarding FMCSA clearinghouse details and other drug and alcohol testing)
