Product Development Engineer

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Product Development Engineer to join Oras Groups Technology this role you will work on the development of embedded hardware and IoT-enabled solutions for durable high-quality products with long service lifecycles.

The role will be part of Oras Product Technology Development department and collaborates closely with cross-functional teams in complete lifecycle of electronic systems; from concepts to detailed design prototyping testing and transfer to manufacturing.

• Office location: Rauma

• Hybrid-work model: possibility to work remotely up to 2 days per week depending on the work assignments

• Travelling: a few times a year subcontractors are located in Finland and Estonia

• Reporting to: Manager Electronic Engineering

• Permanent full-time role

Key Activities and Responsibilities

As a Product Development Engineer you will participate in the full hardware development lifecycle of embedded systems and IoT-enabled products. The role includes electrical design PCB development component selection testing validation troubleshooting and ensuring compliance with relevant standards. You will work across technology exploration new product development and product lifecycle updates contributing to high-quality reliable and manufacturable hardware solutions in close collaboration with cross-functional teams.

The key responsibilities for this role are:

• Design and develop hardware for embedded systems and IoT devices

• Create schematics PCB layouts and perform component selection

• Collaborate with firmware and software teams to ensure seamless integration

• Conduct testing validation troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues

• Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations

• Stay up to date with the latest technologies tools and best practices in hardware development

• Support product lifecycle from concept to production

Knowledge Skills and Experience What is Oras Group expecting from you

We are seeking a hardware engineer with a strong background in embedded systems microcontrollers and IoT architecture and with at least a few years of professional experience in hardware design and product development.

The ideal candidate has:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field

• Work experience in hardware design and development

• Strong knowledge of embedded systems microcontrollers and IoT architecture

• Experience in lowpower design and wireless technologies (BLE WiFi)

• Proficiency in PCB design tools preferably Altium Designer

• Experience with hardware debugging and test equipment

• Ability to balance functionality reliability and usability in hardware solutions

• Understanding of failure mode analysis and risk mitigation strategies to achieve high product quality

• Experience in electromechanics magnetics and optics are considered an advantage

As a professional you are someone who approaches challenges with strong problemsolving and analytical skills communicates clearly and collaborates effectively with others and thrives in a fastpaced and dynamic environment. You communicate fluently in English and Finnish language skills are considered a plus.
