Together our team makes paperboard used in products across the United States including food packaging plates cups and more. With nearly 65 years of operation the mill spans 3000 acres and runs two paper machines that collectively produce up to 1940 tons per day.

What you will do
The Human Resources Associate III is responsible for day-to-day administration of policies and programs in a unionized environment covering the following areas: recruiting salaried & hourly compensation and benefits employee/labor relations and onboarding. Assists in developing policies and procedures and compliance related activities.
Employee and Benefits Administration
- Acts as a resource for salaried and hourly employees in the areas of benefits administration employee/labor relations issues and payroll issues
- Coordinates employee benefits with Corporate Benefits Department and Third-Party Administrators including health care life insurance benefits 401K and pension
- Assists Human Resource Manager(s) with the termination process including severance letters and calculations
- Processes changes and maintain data in payroll and human resources system
- Conducts exit interviews and serve as counsel for retirement and benefit options
- Provides input to the formulation of Human Resource policy changes and communicates company policies practices and procedures to all employees as needed
- Communicates collects and maintains performance reviews
Recruiting and Onboarding
- Recruit hourly employees consistent with company standards and compliance obligations including posting job descriptions screening applications facilitating and participating in panel interviews preparing compensation offers
- Updates talent application system as necessary
- Prepares position descriptions reflecting pertinent responsibilities activities and requirements
- Facilitates pre-employment screening for hourly and salaried new hires including pre-employment tests and coordination of background and reference checks
- Places employment advertisements and analyses reports and trends
- Schedule assessments and interviews
- Participates in local job fairs
- Supports internship program.
- Assists in hourly and salaried new hire orientations and provides training and guidance to hiring managers and employees on policies process and regulatory issues.
- Assists with facilitating overall company orientation.
Payroll and Compliance
- Works closely with site supervisors and managers on Kronos WFD
- Process payroll using reporting feature to ensure accuracy
- Processes manual checks when necessary
- Ensures deductions are correct interfaces with garnishment department corporate payroll and HRIS department
- Ensures final pay is distributed according to Georgia statues
- Provides details of Equal Employment Opportunities company data and activities
- Ensures compliance and provides documentation for regulations on Equal Employment Opportunities Affirmative Action Family Medical Leave Act HIPPA American Disability Act and Sarbanes Oxley
- Maintains employee personnel files

What you will need

- 3 years professional Human Resources experience in a support role required
- Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of people mediate persuade and influence managers at all levels. Must possess sound confrontation skills
- Demonstrate understanding of the Fair Labor Standards Act and National Labor Relations Act
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees
- Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Working knowledge of Human Resource Information System and payroll system
- Intermediate skill level in the use of MS Office: Word Excel Outlook PowerPoint
- Experience with payroll and time and attendance software. Kronos and UKG UltiPro preferred
- Office environment
- Some exposure to mill environmenthot dusty humid noisy
- Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment in the manufacturing environment
- Some eye fatigue due to computer terminal use
- Sitting for extended periods of time
- Rotating weekend duty
- Some travel required
