Job Summary

Description

Montgomery Parks is seeking an enthusiastic undergraduate or graduate student for a paid summer internship as an Equitable Hiring & Workforce Belonging Intern. This role offers hands-on experience in human resources where the intern will help support programs that promote workplace belonging and drive meaningful change across the department. Responsibilities include event planning survey design data analysis and initiatives that improve hiring practices. The intern will develop valuable communication relationship-building and problem-solving skills. This internship will take place over 10 weeks with approximately 25 hours per week Monday through Friday.

Examples of Important Duties

Primary Focus Areas:

Best Practice for Interview Equity

  • Research best-practice interview and candidate-selection models with an emphasis on equity inclusion and fairness

  • Review of Montgomery Parks current interview and selection processes to identify improvement opportunities

  • Help develop structured interview tools including interview questions scoring tools and skills grids to enhance consistency and reduce bias

  • Create presentations and written recommendations summarizing findings and proposed improvements

Intern Community & Long-Term Engagement

  • Support initiatives that strengthen the sense of belonging and connection among summer interns

  • Assist with planning and execution of the Intern Networking Event and other engagement activities

  • Help design and administer surveys to gather feedback on intern experiences and engagement

  • Contribute ideas that encourage continued involvement with Montgomery Parks and positive long-term associations with the organization

Job Advertising & Outreach

  • Help develop recruitment and advertising strategies focused on reaching underrepresented populations

  • Assist with job advertising across multiple platforms

  • Support analysis of candidate experience data related to job postings and recruitment outreach

Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Skills:

  • Outreach strategy development with attention to underrepresented populations

  • Ability to evaluate and improve candidate experience through data and feedback

  • Research skills to identify best-practice interview and selection models

  • Knowledge of or interest in equitable and inclusive hiring practices

  • Event planning and coordination

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Enrollment in a baccalaureate degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university

  • A passion for equity inclusion and belonging

  • Familiarity with the hiring process

  • Ability to intern for 10 weeks 25 hours per week between Monday and Friday precise scheduling to be determined in collaboration with the candidate

Supplemental Information

May be subject to medical drug and alcohol testing.

Undergraduate (Intern I): $17.00 - $19.00 per hour

Graduate (Intern II): $18.00 - $21.00 per hour

Working Conditions:

The intern will work in an office environment and has the option to have a hybrid schedule if they are willing to telework.
