Job Summary

We are seeking a L3 / L4 skilled Azure SQL Database Admin lead to join our cloud infrastructure and automation team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in managing Azure cloud environments implementing Automations. This role involves maintaining cloud resources automating deployments monitoring performance and ensuring high availability and security of services across development and production environments.
The candidate should possess deep familiarity with core Azure IaaS & PaaS
Key Responsibilities:

Experience in create Azure SQL server and creating database and moving the database to SQL Elastic pool.
Understanding of Memory Architecture & Management in SQL Server Advanced knowledge on Database / Query engine
SQL Extended Events - Advanced: Scheduling of SQL extended Events detailed knowledge of all major counters custom setting of extended Events and deep skill on understanding & analysis of extended output data.
Can train L1/L2 resources on Installation /Upgrade migration troubleshooting area
Handling general slow performance and Memory Management issues Understanding of OLTP environment
Installation & Configuration of Azure SQL Server replication failover group and SQL VM Set DR strategy and Backup / Recovery planning
Advances SQL Server Security considerations Security Auditing

Advanced SQL Server Always On Troubleshooting Exposure to VLDB (very Large Database) environment (typically > 1 TB DB Size) Documentation of standards and procedures for providing effective support in client environment

Basic Experience in Azure native tool monitoring Log analytics workspace integration with ITSM tool.
Very strong problem-solving skills with proven ability to analyse and determine the root cause and resolution for complex problems.
Advanced Troubleshooting: Resolve critical SQL Server issues including blocking deadlocks and performance bottlenecks.
Performance Tuning: Optimize queries indexes and server configurations for high throughput and low latency.
High Availability & DR: Design and manage Always On Availability Groups failover clusters and geo-redundant backups.
Security & Compliance: Implement Auditing encryption and compliance policies
Automation & Scripting: Develop PowerShell and T-SQL scripts for automation and monitoring.
Capacity Planning: Monitor growth trends and forecast resource needs.
Support application performance and scalability.
Incident Management: Lead root cause analysis and provide permanent fixes for recurring issues.
Documentation: Maintain runbooks SOPs and architecture diagrams.
Deep knowledge of SQL Server internals execution plans and query optimization.
Hands-on experience with Azure SQL Database Managed Instance and SQL Server on Azure VMs.
Proficiency in PowerShell T-SQL and Azure CLI.
Familiarity with monitoring tools like Azure Native Tool Monitor Log Analytics work space and third-party solutions.
Team player with willingness to take on standby duties and work in US & UK shift.
Must be willing to learn team player out of the box thinking mindset positive approach and flexible.
Lead by examples & A self-starter who can be trusted to work within the guidelines but does not need to follow-up on progress of tasks and activities.
Good to have knowledge on automation tools and with hands-on experience.
Ensure compliance with organizational security policies governance standards and cloud best practices.

Required Skills:

Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field.
Min 3 7 years of hands-on experience in SQL DB (Primary Skill) & Azure cloud administration (Secondary Skill).
Strong understanding of Azure services including Virtual Machines Storage Networking Virtual Networks Application Gateways Private Endpoints DNS and identity services.
Understanding in managing Azure firewall rules NSGs and troubleshooting related networking and firewall issues.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure DB issues.
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal for effective coordination with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Strong documentation skills to maintain clear and comprehensive technical records or Architectural documents.
