The Safety and Human Resources Assistant is a role positioned to partner closely with plant leadership and will serve as the primary point of contact for onsite employee relations safety programs and assisting with customer service relations. This role balances regulatory compliance people leadership and day-to-day operational support to ensure a safe compliant and engaged workforce with providing professional support to internal and external stakeholders. You will be responsible for leading workplace safety initiates in our Pineville North Carolina location in line with our Mittera Corporate Environmental Health and Safety Directors safety plan and have monthly reporting goals to Mitteras regional safety director. You will be responsible for onboarding new hires capturing all required documentation and working directly with the offsite Human Resources Manager to partner for all onsite needs including driving people initiatives like recognition and mentorship programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance
- Own the facilitys safety program including OSHA compliance training audits and incident reporting
- Conduct safety orientations ongoing training and refresher programs for employees
- Lead accident investigations root cause analysis and corrective action plans
- Maintain safety documentation logs and reporting requirements
- Partner with EHS and plant leadership to drive a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement
Human Resources
- Serve as the main onsite support person for the offsite Human Resources Manager
- Lead onboarding new hires and collecting and submitting required documentation
- Be a coach and liaison for new hires as questions arise
- Drive onsite initiatives that support employee recognition
- Drive onsite initiatives that support employee mentorship
- Drive onsite initiatives that support HR leadership initiatives to provide an engaging environment for our workforce
Customer & Operational Support
- Support our customer service representatives with helping keep workflows organized and documented
- Serve as a backup when customer service team members are out of the office
- Support internal communication and cross-functional coordination within the office and plant

- High School diploma or equivalent required

- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of applicable compliance obligations.
- Ability to use basic math skills such as addition subtraction multiplication division measurements and critical thinking to solve practical problems.
- Good judgement and decision-making ability.
- Ability to use specialized computer software and proficiency in Microsoft Word Excel and Outlook.
- Capable of prioritizing and executing projects with minimal supervision
- Must be self-motivated reliable and quality safety-oriented
- Perform additional duties and assist with other projects as requested.
- Experience supporting hourly manufacturing workforces
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and employment law compliance or interest in gaining certifications as you grow in this role
