About us

Alfred Infant Child and Youth Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (ICYAMHWS) is friendly to infants children young people and their families/carers.

We provide accessible mental health services inclusive of family friends and support networks.

We are a specialist multi-disciplinary and intensive care mental health service incorporating the lived and living experience of youth peer workers and family peer specialists.

Our service is divided into two streams 0-11 and 12-26 years and includes specialist services in the areas of perinatal care neurodevelopmental presentations eating disorders and outreach support.

What youll be doing

As an integral and highly valued member of the multi-disciplinary team the Senior Youth Peer Support Worker will provide peer support to young people support them in their own unique recovery process hold space for and empower their voice within the recovery journey. You will also provide support mentorship and leadership to Youth Peer workers to ensure best practice and consistency in peer support within a recovery-oriented framework.

What youve got

  • Lived experience of mental health challenges as a young person and experience of accessing mental health services.
  • Experience as a Youth Peer Support worker knowledge of peer principles and the ability to support people from a mutual perspective by sharing lived experience.
  • Experience mentoring coaching or guiding Youth Peer Support workers.
  • Understanding of the role of orientation supervision ongoing personal/professional development and other mechanisms that sustain motivation and enthusiasm for service participation among young people and for oneself.
  • Australian working rights and current Influenza vaccination
  • Current Victorian Driver License.
  • Current Working with Children Check or willing to obtain one and be willing to undergo a Background Check.
