Job Summary:

The Machine Operator is responsible for setting up operating and maintaining various types of metal fabrication machinery to produce steel components according to specifications. This role plays a critical part in maintaining production efficiency and ensuring parts meet quality standards for use in structural steel and building systems.

Responsibilities:

• Operate steel fabrication machinery including plasma burn tables plasma cutters and other metal- cutting forming & fabrication equipment.
  
• Load raw materials into machines ensure proper alignment and monitor the cutting process.
  
• Inspect finished parts for accuracy quality and adherence to specifications.
  
• Operate and monitor CNC and manual machines such as saws press brakes drills and plasma cutters.
  
• Set up machinery according to production specifications and ensure proper tooling and materials are in place.
  
• Interpret blueprints work orders and technical drawings to produce accurate components.
  
• Measure inspect and verify finished parts for conformance using calipers gauges and other precision tools.
  
• Perform routine maintenance cleaning and minor repairs on assigned machines.
  
• Troubleshoot issues and report mechanical problems or safety concerns to the supervisor.
  
• Accurately document production output material usage and equipment performance.
  
• Work closely with other production team members to meet daily and weekly output goals.
  
• Adhere strictly to all company safety policies procedures and government regulations (e.g. OSHA standards).
  
• Properly use all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
  
• Promptly report any accidents injuries unsafe conditions or potential hazards to a supervisor.
  
• Actively participate in all mandatory safety training drills and development programs to improve skills and knowledge.
  
• Work cooperatively with team members to achieve production goals and departmental objectives.
  
• Adhere to all company policies procedures and codes of conduct.
  
• Monitor own work to ensure it meets quality specifications.
  
• Perform other duties as assigned.
  

Work Schedule:

• Monday-Friday 1st Shift (6:00am 2:00pm) 2nd Shift (2:00pm 10:00pm) 3rd Shift (10:00pm 6:00am)
  
• Depending on production needs some weekends may be required.
  

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Experience: 2 years of experience operating metal fabrication machinery in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  
• Proficient in reading blueprints technical drawings and measuring tools.
  
• Experience with CNC machines including basic programming or adjustment is a plus.
  
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  
• Ability to read write and understand basic English and/or Spanish to interpret and follow safety guidelines and work instructions.
  
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  
• Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand walk bend stoop kneel crouch and climb for extended periods.
  
• Ability to lift push and pull objects weighing up to e.g. 50 pounds regularly.
  
• Ability to work in various environmental conditions common to a manufacturing facility (e.g. varying temperatures noise levels potential for dust/debris wet floors).
  
• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for operating equipment and handling supplies.
