The mission of the Louisiana State Police is to promote health and wellness by delivering compassionate and high-quality health services. We provide behavioral health support and counseling services to individuals and families across Louisiana working every day to improve lives and strengthen communities.

Investigative Specialists are responsible for assisting local state and federal law enforcement partners with case support and investigative leads. Additionally this position will be responsible for conducting threat analysis performing open source research and sharing relevant information with public and private sector partners and stakeholders as it relates to public safety in Louisiana and nationwide.

Minimum Qualifications

Five years of law enforcement investigatory or gaming regulation experience; OR

Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus two years of law enforcement investigatory or gaming regulation experience; OR

A bachelors degree plus two years of law enforcement investigatory or gaming regulation experience.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws are granted.

All persons appointed to this job will be required by the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and Louisiana Police Terminal Operator Certification Program Guidelines to meet the terminal operator certification/re-certification requirements.

INVESTIGATIVE SUPPORT SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Must be able to obtain Federal Government security clearances for access to classified information.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

  • Redact and review video evidence to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal and confidentiality requirements.

  • Prepare investigative case files for court proceedings including organizing documentation and supporting materials.

  • Deliver formal charges and case-related documents to appropriate courts in a timely manner.

  • Sort process and stamp subpoenas received from courts to maintain proper records and tracking.

  • Provide front desk support for the Troop by answering phones monitoring radio communications and assisting the public as needed.


Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: This position may be filled as a probational job appointment or promotion.

Career Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.

Work Schedule:This position may work rotating shift work (days evenings or overnight) to include some weekends and holidays

Compensation:The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
