Job Summary

Are you detail-oriented analytical and experienced in excess & surplus lines We are seeking an experienced Insurance Examiner for a 3-month contract-to-hire opportunity with a progressive and employee-focused insurance brokerage.

This role plays a critical part in ensuring regulatory compliance and accurate document processing for New York State excess line placements.
Schedule:

Mondays remote
4 days on-site
Summer Fridays remote
Additional remote flexibility may be granted based on performance

Key Responsibilities:

Examine incoming documents for accuracy completeness and compliance
Determine correct coverage and classification codes
Verify eligibility for stamping in New York State
Identify and resolve missing or incorrect information
Communicate directly with brokers to obtain clarification
Correct minor clerical errors with broker consent
Determine proper suspense codes for returned unstamped items
Apply official stamps in accordance with state laws
Maintain organized monthly filing of affidavits

Qualifications:

Minimum 2 years Property & Casualty or Commercial Lines experience
Familiarity with Excess/Surplus Lines documentation and terminology
Strong mathematical skills (premium percentage calculations required)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in general office software and computer systems

Compensation & Potential Benefits Upon Conversion:

Salary: $60000$65000 (Non-Exempt Overtime Eligible)
