Assistant Director of Facilities
Position Type: Full-Time 12-month
FLSA Status: Exempt
Location: Lake Norman Charter ES (East and West) MS HS Admin Office: Huntersville NC
Reports to: Director of Facilities
Purpose: Lake Norman Charter (LNC) is a K-12 public charter school that provides a rigorous and comprehensive educational environment to develop students with a focus on college readiness leadership and social responsibility.
The Assistant Director of Facilities serves as a member of the administrative team collaborating on facility needs and budgets in a manner that promotes the educational development of all students and the professional development of staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists Director of Facilities to:
- Monitor contracted janitorial services to ensure that the proper cleaning is being done regularly and standard is being maintained.
- Maintain mechanical electrical and controls systems.
- Coordinate and order contracted services as needed to accomplish repairs not practical to be done by school staff.
- Using manufacturers recommendations and job knowledge establish and carry out a preventative maintenance program for the physical plant tools and equipment for which this position has responsibility.
- Assure federal and state compliance for necessary items (i.e. fire inspection food service rain-water etc.)
- Monitor work order completion and ensure timely quality service delivery to staff.
- Supervise and perform grounds maintenance parking lot and walkway maintenance and campus beautification.
- Maintain a system of grounds and facilities supplies and assets inventory and accounting.
- Purchase supplies and equipment within the LNC purchasing guidelines.
- Supervise and perform work requested or needed on work orders.
- Oversee maintenance on all school owned vehicles.
- Prepare plans material lists and estimates for school renovation projects.
- Maintain and enforce all applicable OSHA and state agencies programs.
- Accomplish other tasks as may be required and assigned.
- Supervise facility maintenance tech providing feedback through yearly evaluations.
- Maintain and supervise approved drivers of LNC buses and vans verify MVR status of each driver on an annual basis provide LNC vehicle procedure training at new hire and annually maintain/verify pre and post trip logs are being completed.
Supervises summer worker process independently including interview/hiring daily work schedule and expectations authorization of time reporting and management of materials.
Performs additional duties as assigned by supervising administrator or other designated administrative staff.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to read and understand architectural plans and specifications a working knowledge of building and mechanical systems
- Experience managing security and emergency management programs a plus and a functional knowledge of energy management systems
- Demonstrated leadership ability and knowledge to provide for planning development and operations of a complex facility
- Ability to respond to after-hours calls and emergencies
EDUCATION CERTIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Associates degree or certification in one of the trade fields preferred
- Managerial experience in the facilities field a plus but not required
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work comfortably at heights of 30 ft.
- Ability to lift weight up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to run facilities maintenance equipment
- Ability to obtain and maintain CDL license (at school expense)
