About the opportunity:
The Private Rental Programs includes Mental Health (MH) PRAP PRAP Plus Case Management and Rental Stress Support Package (RSSP) and provide both telephone support and assistance face to face meetings and an outreach response to households experiencing rental stress that require additional practical support to maintain their tenancy. The programs have various funding sources with this position funded by Department of Families Fairness and Housing DFFH in the North-Eastern Bayside and Southern Melbourne areas.

The role of the Case Manager Private Rental Programs is to ensure renters secure and maintain safe appropriate and sustainable accommodation by providing support to achieve identified goals and address issues that are impacting negatively on a tenancy. Case management includes assessment case planning advocacy education and case coordination and liaison.

Maximum-term full-time role (76 hours per fortnight) until early July based at Cheltenham open to external internal applicants only with a focus on helping renters in Mental Health PRAP secure housing.

What youll be doing:

    • Regularly undertaking detailed assessment of eligibility and supports/services required.
    • Accurate and concise recording of renter communications and assessments undertaken.
    • Develop and maintain active tenancy focussed case plan with small number of renters.
    • Provision of 1:1 outreach supports / services to persons experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
    • Establishing and maintaining relationships with key real estate agencies / property managers.
    • Maintaining relationships with referral agencies and specialist support agencies.
    • Assess renter activity and action to enable access private rental brokerage in line with fund requirements.
    • Regular distribution of private rental brokerage in line with Launch Housing and DFFH guidelines.
    • Accurately collect maintain and record specified data in the established format (including RSSP / PRAP specific spreadsheets).
    • Provision of advocacy for renters as required.
    • Delivering group information sessions to renters and referral agencies as required.
    • Supporting organisation-wide administrative financial and health and safety systems.
    • Actively participating in organisation structures and meetings including supervision coaching and professional development.
    • Maintaining quality customer service ethos.
    • Actively engaging in supervision coaching mentoring and professional development (formal and informal).

What were looking for (key selection criteria):

    • Experience delivering case support and or a relevant Tertiary qualification.
    • Strong knowledge or experience of the current private rental market.
    • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
    • Experience in undertaking detailed assessments with high level verbal and written communication skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively to achieve outcomes.
    • A valid Victorian drivers license (mandatory).

$45.92 - $49.41 an hour
