Assistant Software Engineer

Downers Energy & Utilities business is seeking an Assistant Software Engineer to join our EU CPR Technology Programs team within the IT function.

Reporting to the Spatial & Engineering Tools Manager this role plays a critical part in maintaining and supporting our cloud platforms development environments and digital engineering tools that underpin essential infrastructure services across Australia and New Zealand.

Youll work as part of a collaborative forward-thinking technology team supporting secure scalable cloud environments and engineering platforms that enable operational excellence across Energy & Utilities. This role is ideal for a motivated engineer looking to grow their career in cloud technologies DevOps and enterprise platforms within a large complex organisation.

What Youll Do

• Maintain and support Energy & Utilities cloud environments
• Manage Git platforms and development automations
• Support platform documentation security monitoring and compliance processes
• Assist with technical triage and resolution of escalated issues
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across platforms and systems

What Were Looking For

• Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science or relevant industry experience
• 3 years experience maintaining cloud environments
• Experience across multi-cloud platforms (Azure AWS Google Cloud)
• Strong working knowledge of GitHub GitFlow and infrastructure-as-code
• Self-motivated proactive detail-oriented with strong ownership and problem-solving mindset
