About the role:
Weir Marine Engineering is seeking an Electronic Engineering Technologist to join our Electronics Measurement and Control group. This role supports the engineering team in the development installation testing maintenance and troubleshooting of electronic equipment and Measurement and Data Acquisition Systems deployed aboard naval vessels.
The successful candidate will be a hands-on detail-oriented technologist with strong practical electronics and instrumentation skills capable of working effectively in laboratory and shipboard environments. Responsibilities include supporting the integration verification and sustainment of measurement and monitoring systems deployed aboard naval vessels and on occasion Uncrewed Vehicles (UxVs).
The position is primarily based in an office or laboratory environment with regular field assignments aboard ships occasional support to UxV activities and short travel to external test sites.

What youll bring Key Responsibilities: Measurement & DAS Support: Support the installation integration testing troubleshooting and maintenance of Measurement and Data Acquisition Systems (DAS) deployed aboard naval vessels and when required Uncrewed Vehicles (UxVs). Assist in system commissioning signal verification and hardware validation activities. Electronics & Instrumentation: Apply practical electronics knowledge to assemble test repair and modify electronic equipment and instrumentation subsystems. Perform hands-on diagnostics using test instruments and interpret schematics wiring diagrams and interconnection drawings. Field Testing & Commissioning: Conduct shipboard dockside and at-sea trials including sensor installation cable routing verification signal integrity checks and operational validation of measurement systems. Support testing activities involving UxVs when required. Document system performance and test results. Data Collection & System Verification: Operate data acquisition systems to collect verify and organize measurement data during trials. Support engineering analysis activities by ensuring data quality and completeness. Team Collaboration: Work closely with engineers naval platform stakeholders UxV operators (as applicable) and fellow technologists to implement technical solutions and resolve system issues. Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications: Mandatory: Must obtain a Government of Canada security clearance which necessitates Canadian citizenship and a minimum of 10 years of continuous residence in Canada. Required: Diploma in Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology or equivalent technical training; or relevant hands-on industry experience. Required: Practical experience with measurement and control systems electronic circuits sensors signal conditioning and test equipment (e.g. oscilloscopes multimeters power supplies). Asset: Previous Experience with RCN is considered an asset Asset: Previous Experience with Uncrewed Vehicles (UxVs) is considered an asset Preferred: Proficiency in technical writing in English and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels with peers supervisors and clients; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel and PowerPoint).
