SPEECH AND LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST
Supervisor: Director of Special Programs
Salary Range: QEA Salary Schedule
Location/Assignment: Support Services/ Various Schools
Conditions of work: 180 days/1FTE
SUMMARY:
The Speech Language Pathologist will participate in screening evaluation program development and service delivery for students with potential speech and/or language collaboration with team members is an essential part of this position. There will also be dedicated time weekly for report writing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Implement IEP as developed by the SLP.
Work with teachers to schedule students for therapy
Plan for and provide services to students with a variety of speech and language impairments (under the direction of the SLP)
Maintain detailed data of therapy sessions and provide input for current level of functioning for upcoming IEPs
Create materials as needed for individualized instruction of SLP students
Team with SLP and other IEP team members to provide integrated services for students with speech and language impairments
Attend evaluation MDT and IEP meetings with the SLP when appropriate
Provide support for classroom teachers to encourage carry-over of speech and language skills to settings outside of the therapy room
Screen students for potential evaluation of speech and language skills (as directed by the SLP)
Participate in SLP staff meetings
Use appropriate interpersonal skills
Demonstrate ability to maintain confidentiality
QUALIFICATIONS:
Possess a Bachelors Degree in Speech and Language
Must hold and ESACertificate in Speech Language Pathology
Bilingual and biliterate (Spanish) preferred
Experience working with students with speech and language impairments
Demonstrate strong time management skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with staff and students
Ability to follow behavior support plans for students with speech and language impairments
Ability to work individually and in a team setting
Ability to work with students of all ages
Knowledge of ASHA guidelines for SLP staff
