Role

We are looking for a Sr. Staff Platform Engineer to join our team in Bellevue WA (3 days in office) reporting to the Sr. Director Software Development Engineering in the Zero Trust Exchange this role you will design scalable high-performance backend services and APIs while mentoring junior engineers and ensuring system reliability within a highly available engineering platform.

What youll do (Role Expectations)

• Designing and implementing scalable high-performance backend services and APIs
• Ensuring code quality by writing and maintaining unit integration and performance tests; monitor debug and optimize system performance
• Mentoring junior engineers fostering their growth and upholding best practices through active participation in code reviews
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated solutions and contribute to Agile/Scrum processes like sprint planning and retrospectives
• Participating in on-call rotation to support a highly available engineering platform and ensure compliance with federal guidelines

What Were Looking for (Minimum Qualifications)

• 8 years of experience with proficiency coding in a modern Object-Oriented language
• Expertise in designing analyzing and resolving issues in large-scale distributed systems
• Demonstrated exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail for designing robust solutions
• Hands-on experience with Docker Kubernetes and one or more major cloud platforms (AWS GCP or Azure)
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent professional experience) coupled with strong adaptability and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced Agile environment

What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)

• Demonstrate excellent leadership communication and cross-team collaboration skills with the ability to navigate ambiguity make high-impact technical decisions and drive initiatives with minimal oversight
• Proficiency with one or more AI code-assistance tools (e.g. Windsurf Cursor Claude) to accelerate development refactoring unit test creation and troubleshooting
• Exposure to DevOps automation workflows and CI/CD pipelines
