Job Summary

Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactiveUnderwriting Assistantto support our First Fire program. Do you thrive in a fast-paced collaborative environment Are you highly organized and motivated by helping a team achieve excellence in underwriting operations In this role youll play a critical part in supporting the First Fire program team maintaining accurate records and ensuring timely high-quality service to internal and external partners.

Performance Objectives

  • Operational Support & Data Accuracy Maintain and update departmental records ensuring the accuracy of policy details endorsements invoices broker data and related documentation. Your attention to detail will help keep information current organized and audit-ready.

  • Underwriting Process Management Support the underwriting cycle by preparing and assembling quotes renewals and policies for distribution. You will handle correspondencesuch as quote letters memorandums declinations and invoiceswith professionalism and precision.

  • Customer Service & Communication Serve as a reliable point of contact for brokers clients and internal departments. Youll manage inbound and outbound phone calls respond to inquiries and facilitate clear communication across teams to ensure excellent service and responsiveness.

  • Collaboration & Departmental Coordination Work closely with underwriting claims compliance and operations teams to forward files track requests and support the flow of information throughout the underwriting process. You will play a key role in ensuring departmental efficiency and collaboration.

  • Process Improvement & Efficiency Contribute to refining daily workflows by identifying opportunities for process enhancements. You will recommend and assist with implementing improvements to streamline documentation reporting and recordkeeping practices.

  • Professional Growth & Development Build your insurance industry knowledge through exposure to core underwriting functions such as renewal preparation and loss analysis under the direction of an underwriter. This role offers a strong foundation for professional advancement within the organization.

Education & Experience

  • Undergraduate degree preferred or equivalent professional experience required.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of underwriting or operations support experience.

  • Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance industry experience preferred.

Other Skills

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on confidentiality tact and diplomacy.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel Access PowerPoint Word).

  • Demonstrates initiative attention to detail and reliability in meeting deadlines.

  • Thrives in a collaborative environment and contributes to team success.

Working Conditions

  • Occasional overtime may be required to fulfill departmental deadlines.

  • Regularly required to sit for extended periods; ability to lift up to 10 pounds.

  • Frequent computer and office equipment use with close visual focus and data input.
