Team Overview:
BlackRocks Reporting and Regulatory Solutions team (RRS) sits within Client Experience Operations and provides a range of services encompassing report building preparation and distribution for BlackRocks clients and regulators new data and engineering solutions for reporting and oversight & process updates for complex regulations. The Data Solutions team within RRS drives scalable data solutions for global client and regulatory reporting. The team partners across the firm and with external stakeholders to source structure and govern data while implementing robust reporting and oversight controls that support the firms regulatory change agenda.
Job Overview:
We are looking for a passionate Data Solutions Team Lead VP who enjoys engineering and optimizing data sets building robust data pipelines and contributing to the architecture of our data infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a good background in data engineering experience with big data technologies and a knack for solving complex data challenges.
Role & Responsibilities:
Manage the data engineering team responsible for sourcing staging QC-ing and distributing a wide range of data sets to our partners in the Client Reporting and Regulatory reporting functions
Build positive relationships and collaborative engagement with data source providers and reporting collaborators to maintain and improve quality and timeliness of product.
Excellent risk awareness and focus on delivering an appropriate operational control framework around the work youre doing including review and validation of monthly metrics.
Create efficient data pipelines for data processing transformation and storage.
Develop and maintain data schemas that align with business requirements to ensure data consistency and efficient querying enabling reuse.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and implement solutions.
Provide leadership and guidance to the technical teams fostering a culture of innovation collaboration and technical excellence.
Implement best practices for cloud-based data storage security and scalability.
Generate ideas for designing and building data engineering solutions using standard frameworks.
Experience:
A minimum of 12-15 years of operational experience in serving large institutional or retail clients with good understanding of financial markets concepts and investment management
Extensive exposure in managing multiple teams in an operational role.
Demonstrate solution-based approach to solve operational challenges with attention to detail
Excellent attention to detail and understanding of operational processes
Self-starter who enjoys a fast-paced high-intensity environment sets priorities and can work independently as well as with a global management team
Empathy and a unique ability to understand customer needs; passionate about customer service
Tech first mindset and curiosity; experience solving problems through technology
Experience managing people and leadership skills with the ability to inspire and engage junior talent; prior experience building or re-vitalizing a team from the ground up is a plus
Good interpersonal and communication skills and a collaborate-first approach
Exposure and comfort with scripting visualization tools programming languages e.g. R Python SAS VBA and SQL is desirable
B. Tech (Computer Science) or equivalent degree preferred.
Experience in leading projects (local or global) stakeholder management working with competing priorities
5 Years of Experience with any programming languages preferably SQL and Python
Knowledge of SQL and performance tuning. Experience with Snowflake is must.
Flexibility and ability to adapt to new technologies
Demonstrated experience working effectively within a collaborative team environment.
