Overview
The Research Assistant I assists and collaborates with the Principal Investigator (PI) to provide research support perform laboratory procedures and maintain research related documentation/records. This position requires flexibility responsibility and independence to perform diverse duties related to carrying out research protocols analyzing behavioral data and coordinating day-today research study activities related to projects focused on interactive
rehabilitation for children with neurological impairment.
Responsibilities
1. Participate in experiments collect and analyze data formulate conclusions and create appropriate statistical visualizations (such as graphs and charts) for the purpose of reporting research results.
2. Coordinate day-to-day research study activities including but not limited to scheduling study participants and implementing study protocol procedures.
3. Manage research data in accordance with protocols established by the PI including but not limited to data entry data transfer data archiving data maintenance and data analysis.
4. Assist with Institutional Review Board (IRB) required materials including but not limited to protocol application and related forms changes in
research reports of adverse events and preparation of compliance and regulatory documentation for local state and federal agencies.
5. Meet regularly with PI and colleagues to review data troubleshoot problems prioritize tasks and discuss newly published scientific literature relevant to the research field.
6. Independently process and deliver presentations of scientific data to research collaborators and study teams.
7. Complete general administrative work related to assigned studies including but not limited to records management processing subject reimbursements and incentives and inventorying/ordering laboratory supplies.
8. Assist with the preparation of study-related materials progress reports and any other research execution/implementation pertinent documentation.
9. Maintain clear accurate and explicit records of all procedures and experiments performed in a lab notebook or electronic data management systems.
10. Assist in preparing and writing manuscripts for publication based on data obtained.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Bachelors degree required. Bachelors degree in a science-related field (e.g. biology neuroscience psychology biomedical engineering computer science or physics) preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Preferred:
Prior experience working with young children in a research context.
Experience with at least one programming language such as R or MATLAB.
