VMCH is a Catholic for-purpose organisation providing services including affordable housing residential aged care retirement living community and disability services and specialist education to more than 10000 people across Victoria. We operate in over 50 locations have 3400 employees and over 400 volunteers maintaining our 24/7 service to vulnerable people across Victoria.

The Role:

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer VMCH is seeking an inspiring and strategic Chief Mission Officer to join our executive team to champion our organisations mission across every level of the organisation. Grounded in the Catholic faith and social teaching our mission guides everything we do from strategic decision making to how we deliver care and services each day.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure ethical standards and mission informed goals are reflected in decision making to maintain focus on VMCHs core purpose.
Collaborate with leadership to embed a mission-driven culture throughout the organisation.
Shape organisational culture leading mission-focused workshops and fostering a cohesive mission oriented environment.
Lead mission formation and spiritual development programs for the Board Executive leaders and broader workforce embedding our Catholic ethos.
Engage stakeholders partners volunteers and the community to strengthen our mission and social impact.
Monitor and report on progress towards mission objectives ensuring accountability and transparency.
Lead and develop a large diverse pastoral care team including workforce planning professional formation and wellbeing.
Provide strategic leadership of VMCHs volunteer workforce overseeing the delivery of a sustainable volunteer strategy that strengthens community connection and enhances the lived experience of those we support.
Support organisational change and innovation through a mission lens.
Act as a visible and trusted voice of mission across the organisation.

About You:

Proven experience in executive leadership preferably within purpose-driven or social impact organisations.
Exceptional communication stakeholder engagement and strategic planning skills.
An innovative thinker with a solid history of delivering results and driving positive change in the areas of mission theology ethics or a related field.
An ability to translate mission into practical and contemporary organisational practice.
Highly developed communication and professional stakeholder relationship-building skills.

Alignment with the mission values and ethos of a Catholic for-purpose organisation.

Key Selection Criteria:

Relevant tertiary qualifications in Theology/Ethics/Social Sciences or a related discipline.
Proven experience providing executive level leadership in mission pastoral care ethics formation or a related function within a Catholic or valuesbased organisation.
Demonstrated capability to embed mission and formation across complex service environments to support a workforce to live the mission in practice.
Deep understanding of Catholic identity in a forpurpose organisation including the integration of faith ethics dignity of the person and social justice.
Sound knowledge of the Catholic faith with the ability to communicate this in language that is accessible and inclusive to all levels of stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to operate with discretion and to maintain complete confidentiality.
