We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled BigCommerce Developer to join our e-commerce team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing developing and maintaining high-quality e-commerce solutions on the BigCommerce platform. This role requires a strong understanding of front-end and back-end development BigCommerce APIs and best practices for performance and scalability.
Develop customize and maintain BigCommerce stores using the Stencil framework HTML CSS (SCSS/SASS) and JavaScript.
Integrate third-party applications services and APIs to enhance store functionality (e.g. payment gateways shipping providers PIM systems).
Troubleshoot and resolve complex platform issues bugs and performance bottlenecks.
Collaborate with design and marketing teams to implement seamless user experiences and optimize conversion rates.
Ensure all development is mobile-responsive cross-browser compatible and adheres to accessibility standards.
Manage source code using Git and participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and stability.
Stay up-to-date with the latest BigCommerce features updates and e-commerce industry trends.
Experience
Professional experience in web development and some dedicated to BigCommerce development.
BigCommerce Expertise
Deep proficiency with the BigCommerce platform including:
BigCommerce Stencil CLI and theme development.
Custom development using BigCommerce Storefront and Catalog APIs.
Working knowledge of BigCommerce theme ecosystem and configuration.
Technical Skills
Expertise in HTML5 CSS3 and JavaScript (ES6).
Experience with pre-processors (SASS/SCSS) and modern front-end build tools (e.g. Webpack Grunt).
Familiarity with version control systems particularly Git.
Familiarity with analytics and tracking tools.
Ability to work independently and own end-to-end theme architecture.
Problem-Solving
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
Comfortable working in a cross-time-zone environment.
Remote role with structured hours that align with U.S Mountain Time supporting both focus and collaboration.
Experience with Headless Commerce architecture (e.g. React or ) in combination with BigCommerce.
Familiarity with server-side languages (e.g. PHP ) for custom application development.
Understanding of SEO principles and performance optimization techniques for e-commerce sites.
BigCommerce Certified Developer status.
