As the Environmental Manager you will have responsibility for development and execution of the site environmental programs and systems. These areas include sustainability air wastewater and solid waste activities. You will work closely with functional areas to reduce the environmental impact of the facility through continuous improvement.
Additional Responsibilities Include
- Must follow Ahlstroms manufacturing and hygiene processes procedures and policies as applicable to the positions areas of responsibility in order to meet and maintain the safety quality and regulatory compliance requirements for each grade of paper.
- Ensure all compliance requirements are met for the facility
- Work with regulators on any incidents or requests
- Stay up to date on existing and upcoming regulations that can affect the facility
- Provide environmental support and review for projects throughout the facility
- Work with corporate environmental and sustainability groups to help lead global initiatives
- Assessing analyzing & collecting environmental performance data
- Liaison between community environmental agencies and other interested parties
- Capital and new chemical reviews and approvals
- All other assignments assigned by management

Skills to be Successful
- Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in environmental regulatory issues is preferred
- Bachelors degree in Engineering required; Chemical or Environmental Engineering preferred
- Experience working with regulatory agencies
- Industrial experience preferred but not necessary
- Experience with air and wastewater permitting is preferred
- Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential
- Must be able to effectively interact with a wide range of people including production and salaried employees and regulatory personnel
- Strong analytical skills attention to detail and methodical approach to work
- Experience with carbon reduction water reduction and zero-waste to landfill strategies desired
- The ability to work in a normal office environment to include sitting or standing for long periods of time operating various standard office equipment carrying paper documents/files reaching and bending speaking on the telephone. May include safely walking through our manufacturing plant and wearing required personal protection gear (i.e. hearing and foot protection).
