Summary:This Student will assist faculty Electro-Mechanical program by supporting laboratory operations maintaining equipment and providing general assistance to students and instructors. This position offers hands-on experience in a technical environment and is ideal for students pursuing studies in robotics automation mechatronics or related fields.
Essential Job Duties: Assist with setup calibration and maintenance of robotics and automation lab equipment (e.g. PLCs sensors robotic arms and pneumatic systems). Support instructors during laboratory sessions by preparing materials and ensuring workstations are properly equipped. Perform routine inventory of lab supplies tools and components. Help maintain a clean safe and organized lab environment in compliance with MCC safety standards. Assist in data entry documentation and record-keeping related to equipment usage and maintenance logs. Support faculty with project demonstrations outreach events or campus tours when needed. Other duties as assigned.
Abilities: - Must be currently enrolled at Marshalltown Community College and eligible for the Federal or Institutional Work Study program.
- Strong interest in Robotics Automation or Mechatronics.
- Ability to follow directions work independently and maintain attention to detail.
- Good communication teamwork and organizational skills.
- Basic familiarity with computers and technical equipment.
Education and Experience:HS Diploma or equivalent. Completion (or concurrent enrollment) in at least one Robotics PLC or Automation Systems course. Prior experience with mechanical or electrical tools. Basic understanding of safety protocols in a lab or shop environment.
